EPA To Hold Public Hearings on Proposed Rule to Reduce Interstate Transport of Ozone and Fine Particle Pollution (HQ)
WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
will hold three public hearings on its proposed “transport
rule,” which would cut power plant pollution that drifts
across the borders of 31 eastern states and the District of
Columbia. The proposed rule, along with local and state air
pollution controls, is designed to help areas in the eastern United
States meet existing national air quality health
standards.
Each hearing will begin at 9 a.m. and continue
until 8 p.m. local time, or later if necessary. The public may
pre-register to speak at the hearings at a specific time. People
also may register in person on the day of the hearing, but cannot
be guaranteed a specific time slot.
The hearing dates and pre-registration deadlines
