GERMANTOWN, Md., July 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, announced today that it will participate in the Army Commercial SATCOM Users' Workshop, which is an adjunct event to LandWarNet 2010 and hosted by the Satellite Industry Association (SIA).

Rick Lober, vice president and general manager of the Defense and Intelligence Systems Division at Hughes will participate in a panel discussion on "Mobility Demands," focusing on the U.S. Army's requirements for smaller, lighter and faster terminal capabilities, and addressing innovative solutions that have been developed to help meet the challenge.

Mr. Lober will discuss some of the latest technological advancements by Hughes, including its integrated solutions for net-centric communications -- on land, at sea and airborne. He will present the recently launched Hughes Airborne Video Solution, which features full D-1 video resolution at over 2 Mbps rates, five times greater than what is currently available.

In addition, Hughes will showcase its technologies and solutions for defense and intelligence applications at LandWarNet 2010, Booth #839. Technologies available on-site include the HX280, the latest member of the HX family of broadband satellite routers, with enhanced security features and configurable in star and mesh topologies, ideal for government and military use; the BGAN 9350 mobile satellite terminal, a ruggedized, high throughput terminal that operates on Inmarsat's global network; and the Thuraya IP terminal, a lightweight, portable broadband solution for communications-on-the-move manufactured by Hughes.
