Crane Appoints Mitchell To New COO Position

Industrial manufacturer Crane Co. said Monday that it has appointed Max H. Mitchell in the new position of executive vice president and chief operating officer.

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Industrial manufacturer Crane Co. said Monday that it has appointed Max H. Mitchell in the new position of executive vice president and chief operating officer.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Mitchell, 47, has served as president of Crane's fluid handling group, which represents 46 percent of the company's sales, since April 2005. Prior to that, Mitchell worked for Pentair Inc., Danaher Corp. and Ford Motor Co.

Stamford-based Crane makes products for a diverse group of customers, including commercial and military aircraft, electronics for the Mars Rover and parts for RVs.

Crane shares dropped $1.20, or 2.5 percent, to close at $46.52.
