WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) -- AK Steel Holding Corp. on Monday increased spot market base prices for all carbon flat-rolled steel products, citing higher steel-making costs and a pick-up in the pace of orders for carbon steel products.
Flat-rolled steel is used in a range of products, from automobiles to appliances.
The company increased base prices by $50 per ton for hot rolled and cold rolled carbon steel products, effective immediately. It also boosted prices by $60 per ton for coated carbon steel products.
Shares in AK Steel added a penny to $14.09 in aftermarket trading following the price increases. The stock slipped 5 cents to $14.08 during the regular session.
