Health care company said Wednesday it named the leaders of two key divisions as vice chairmen of the executive committee.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) -- Health care company Johnson & Johnson said Wednesday it named the leaders of two key divisions as vice chairmen of the executive committee, and said they will join Chairman and CEO William Weldon in an expanded office of the chairman.

Sheri McCoy, 52, who has been chairwoman of the worldwide pharmaceuticals division, and Alex Gorsky, 50, who had been chairman of the worldwide medical devices and diagnostics division, will join Weldon effective Jan. 3.

McCoy's expanded responsibilities will include the consumer group, the corporate office of science and technology and corporate affairs. Gorsky will add global supply chain, government affairs and policy and the Johnson & Johnson Development Corp. to his responsibilities.

In a statement from the New Brunswick, N.J., company, Weldon called the changes "an appropriate step in furthering our long-term succession plans and assuring talented, experienced leaders at all levels of the organization."

Peter M. Fasolo, who is vice president of human resources, also will join the executive committee and focus on talent development and succession planning at all corporate levels.

DePuy Group Chairman Michael Mahoney will become worldwide chairman of medical devices and diagnostics, and Joaquin Duato, a former pharmaceuticals company group chairman, was named worldwide chairman for pharmaceuticals.
