HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (AP) -- General Cable Corp. named Emmanuel Sabonnadiere to lead company operations in Europe and the Mediterranean on Wednesday.
In addition to taking on the chief executive role in those regions, Sabonnadiere becomes an executive vice president for the entire company, effective July 1.
Sabonnadiere succeeds Domingo Goenaga, who will remain with the distributor of fiber optic and metal cable products as an executive vice president and vice chairman of its European holding company.
Sabonnadiere joined General Cable two years ago as managing director of its Silec operations in France and recently became chairman of its Algerian business.
Shares rose $1.08, or 4 percent, to $28.63 in afternoon trading amid a boarder market upswing.
