CLEVELAND (AP) -- Industrial materials maker Ferro Corp. said on Tuesday that it is expanding in Asia, including adding on to a plant in Suzhou, China, and building a new one in Taipei, Taiwan.
It said the expansion in Suzhou is to meet increasing demand from solar cell manufacturers in China.
The new facility in Taiwan will have solar cell printing and firing equipment, and is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
Ferro also said it has gotten space in Singapore to open a research and development facility with a solar materials laboratory.
Ferro shares rose 29 cents, or 4.1 percent, to close at $7.37.
