Chinese drug maker Simcere Pharmaceutical Group said it's taking a larger stake in Jilin Boda Pharmaceutical, which makes injectable stroke-management drugs.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Chinese drugmaker Simcere Pharmaceutical Group said Monday it is taking a larger stake in a company that makes injectable stroke-management drugs.

The deal will give Simcere 90 percent control of Jilin Boda Pharmaceutical Co. It already owns a 51 percent stake in Jilin Boda as the result of a deal made in September 2007.

Monday's deal involves Simcere buying an 80-percent stake in Xiangao Investment Company Ltd., an investment company that owns the remaining 49 percent of Jilin Boda.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
