Shipbuilder Delivers Boats To Navy

United States Marine turned over two patrol boats to the U.S. Special Operations Command, the last of the vessels to be delivered under a contract valued at more than $100 million.

GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) -- A Gulfport shipbuilding company is celebrating the end of one contract and the beginning of another.

United States Marine signed the paperwork Thursday turning over two patrol boats to the U.S. Special Operations Command. They are the last of the vessels to be delivered under a contract valued at more than $100 million.

The Naval Special Warfare Rigid Inflatable Boats are used by the Navy Seals. The Navy is sending the boats to Norfolk, Va.

Also Thursday, the company announced it has received a $20 million contract with the Navy for 20 of the boats.

The boats are also used by other countries including Australia, Kuwait, Israel and Singapore.
