PepsiCo's Greco To Assume New Role

Beverage and snack maker named Tom Greco executive vice president of sales of North American beverages as it reorganizes some posts ahead of deal to buy back bottlers.

PURCHASE, N.Y. (AP) -- Beverage and snack maker PepsiCo Inc. on Thursday named Tom Greco executive vice president of sales of North American beverages, a new post, as it reorganizes some posts ahead of its deal to buy back its bottlers.

Greco is a 23-year veteran of PepsiCo. Salman Amin will become executive vice president of PepsioCo sales and marketing. He previously led the company's business in the U.K. and Ireland.

Greco had led PepsiCo U.S. sales and marketing since 2006. He joined the company in 1986.

PepsiCo Americas Beverages CEO Massimo d'Amore said in a statement that as the company's pending deal to buy back its bottlers gets closer, the company is reorganizing its North American selling organization for "increased speed, efficiency and greater innovation."

Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo is in the process of buying its two top bottlers for $7.8 billion in a bid to save money and get new products to market more quickly.

Shares fell 17 cents to $57.71 during midday trading.
