Shimegi To Head Chrysler Japan

Chrysler said Toshiyuki Shimegi will assume post of president, becoming first Japanese to take helm of the Japan unit of the U.S. automaker in 12 years.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Chrysler Japan said Wednesday that Toshiyuki Shimegi, head of sales and marketing, will assume the post of president on Thursday, becoming the first Japanese to take the helm of the Japan unit of the U.S. automaker in 12 years.

The 50-year-old Shimegi will succeed Christopher Ellis who will return to Chrysler LLC.

Shimegi, a former banker, took his current post in November 2007.
