Toyota, GM Chief Execs May Meet In August

Leaders of the two automakers would apparently discuss Toyota's possible provision of environmental technologies to GM.

NEW YORK (Kyodo) -- Toyota Motor Corp. President-designate Akio Toyoda is considering visiting the United States in early August to meet with Fritz Henderson, the chief executive officer of bankrupt General Motors Corp., sources said Thursday.

The leaders of the two automakers would apparently discuss Toyota's possible provision of environmental technologies to GM, a key area deemed vital for the reconstruction of the company, which has lagged behind Japanese rivals in hybrids and other fuel efficient cars.
