Alcoa Names Scheps Consumer Electronics Director

Aluminum maker said Monday that it has named Randall Scheps to the newly created position of director of consumer electronics market development.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Aluminum maker Alcoa Inc. said Monday that it has named Randall Scheps to the newly created position of director of consumer electronics market development.

Scheps, 42, joined Alcoa in 2006 in a marketing leadership role focused on ground transportation. He will be responsible for building Alcoa's consumer electronics business globally.

The company expects aluminum use to more than double in the next five years as consumers seek to buy fewer plastic products.

Currently Alcoa sells aluminum sheet in a number of finishes, textures and colors; recycled content materials; and small threaded inserts used in thin, lightweight electronics.
