PLAINVIEW, N.Y. (AP) -- Veeco Instruments Inc. said Tuesday it has hired longtime Rohm and Haas Co. executive David Glass as its chief financial officer and executive vice president.
Glass, 50, replaces John F. Rein Jr., 63, who announced plans to retire from the precision manufacturing equipment maker last year.
Glass has been with Rohm and Haas for 25 years and served as corporate controller from 2003 to 2007. Rohm and Haas is a specialty materials company acquired by the Dow Chemical Co. last April. Most recently, Glass served as CFO for the company's electronic materials division and Asia-Pacific region. He joins Veeco Jan. 18.
Veeco shares rose 53 cents, or 1.6 percent, to $34.52 in morning trading.
