MELVILLE, N.Y. (AP) -- Arrow Electronics Inc., which makes electronic components and computer products, said Monday it plans to name Michael J. Long as its chief executive officer effective May 1.
Long will succeed William E. Mitchell, who has been the company's chief executive since 2003. Mitchell will continue as executive chairman, a position he has held since 2006, through Dec. 31.
Long, an 18-year veteran of Arrow, has been president and chief operating officer and a director of the company since March 2008, responsible for all the company's business operations.
Long previously was senior vice president of Arrow and president of the company's global components business. Earlier, he was president of its global enterprise computing solutions business.
