FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Carmaker BMW AG said Tuesday it has appointed Friedrich Eichiner as chief financial officer, taking over from Michael Ganal, who will remain on the board.
Eichiner, 53, has been leading the corporate and brand development division at Munich-based BMW since late 2007 and has also managed the finance division while Ganal was absent due to illness. Eichiner will also be in charge of financial services, the car loans business.
BMW said its board had made other managerial changes Tuesday. Chief executive Norbert Reithofer will take charge of overall product strategy, while the BMW Motorcycle division will be headed by Klaus Draeger of the research and development division.
