Strader Tapped As COO For Textron Systems

Textron named Fred Strader chief operating officer of its Textron Systems unit, the industrial conglomerate said Wednesday.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Textron Inc. named Fred Strader chief operating officer of its Textron Systems unit, the industrial conglomerate said Wednesday.

Strader came to Textron last year when the company acquired United Industrial Corp. and the AAI subsidiary that Strader ran as president. Textron folded UIC and AAI into the Textron Systems operating business, which also includes units that make precision weapons, surveillance systems and unmanned aircraft.

Ellen Lord was named head of the AAI unit.

Frank Tempesta, president of the Systems unit, had held the COO position until 2006, when he was promoted. The post has been vacant since then.

Textron also makes Cessna aircraft, Bell helicopters, and E-Z-Go golf carts.
