EMERYVILLE, Calif. (AP) — Drug maker Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Tuesday it named N. Anthony Coles president and chief executive, effective March 31.
He replaces Hollings C. Renton, who said in October he planned to retire. He will retire as president, chief executive, chairman and board member on March 31.
Coles had been president and chief executive of biotechnology company NPS Pharmaceuticals Inc. Before that, he was senior vice president of commercial operations at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc.
NPS Pharmaceuticals said Coles will be replaced by Francois Nader, currently NPS executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective March 17.
