Stratsys Halts Distribution Of Arcam Products

Printer maker will stop distributing Arcam products in North America so it can focus more on its own offerings.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Printer maker Stratasys Inc. said Friday it will stop distributing Arcam products in North America so it can focus more on its own offerings.

Stratasys said it mutually ended its distribution deal with Arcam for its additive fabrication products and will help transition marketing and sales responsibilities back to the company. Stratasys now plans to concentrate on its fused deposition modeling offerings.

Additive fabrication products are created through the use of technologies such as 3D computer-aided design to help make products quicker. Fused deposition modeling is a rapid manufacturing process that takes materials layer by layer to create a product.

The terminated agreement will not materially impact revenue or strategy, as Arcam sales were a minimal portion of overall revenue, according to Stratasys.
