DAYVILLE, Conn. (AP) -- United Natural Foods Inc. said Tuesday it has appointed Steven Spinner, former chief executive of Performance Food Group Co., as its new CEO.
Spinner replaces Michael Funk, who will remain with the company as chairman. Funk has been with United Foods for 32 years.
Spinner, 48, was CEO of Performance Food group until May, when the company was bought by a group of private equity investors.
United Foods' current chairman, Thomas Simone, will become a vice chairman of the board.
United is a distributor to supermarkets and other retail food outlets.
