Valence Technology CFO Resigns

Lithium battery maker's Chief Financial Officer Galen Fischer has resigned effective July 23 after less than five months with the company.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Lithium battery maker Valence Technology Inc. said Friday its Chief Financial Officer Galen Fischer has resigned effective July 23 after less than five months with the company.

Corporate Controller Donald E. Gottschalk will assume the role until a replacement is named.

Fischer, who is leaving to pursue other interests, joined the company on March 3 from telecommunications software maker Motive Inc. when Valence's CFO Thomas Mezger resigned.

Shares fell 8 cents, or 2.2 percent, to $3.55 in morning trading.
