AK Steel Plans Price Hikes

$30 million per ton increase mostly due to increased demand for carbon steel products.

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (AP) — AK Steel said Wednesday it plans to increase spot market prices for its carbon steel products by $30 per ton for all new orders accepted for shipment on or after Oct. 1.

The company said the price increase is mostly due to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as higher costs for steel-making components.

AK Steel makes a variety of steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
