CHICAGO- Manufacturing output in the Midwest region rose in April, according to the Chicago Federal Reserve.
The Midwest Manufacturing Index rose 0.6 percent to 104.9. The industrial production index for manufacturing was up 0.5 percent.
The regional auto sector output rose 0.2 percent in April, on par with national output.
The machinery sector output increased 0.4 percent, slower than the national level of 1.4 percent.
The regional steel sector output rose 0.3 percent, the same increase as the national level.
The regional resource sector dipped 0.5 percent, with decreases in food and nonmetallic minerals production. Nationally, the resource sector’s output was down 0.2 percent.
