Seton Cutting 230 Bedford County, PA Jobs

Job cuts come less than two years after the company said it planned to add 100 jobs to its Saxton plant.

SAXTON, Pa. (AP) - Manufacturer of leather products for car interiors, Seton Co., plans to cut about 230 manufacturing jobs over the next year.

The cuts, which will reduce Seton's Bedford County work force to about 50 jobs, come less than two years after the company said it planned to add 100 jobs to its Saxton plant.

Bette Slayton, director of economic development for Bedford County, called the news devastating.

Seton was provided $550,000 in state funding to help with the planned expansion. All state incentives have been or will be repaid, Slayton said.
