March Trade Sales And Shipments Up 3.7 Percent

The U.S. Census Bureau said that for March, trade sales and shipments, manufacturers’ and trade inventories, and the total business inventories/sales ratio were all up.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Census Bureau on Friday released the trade inventories and sales numbers for March.

At $1,075.2 billion, the combined total of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for March is up 1.4 percent from February and 3.7 percent from March 2006.

Manufacturers’ and trade inventories were $1,366.3 billion, down 0.1 percent from February and up 4.8 percent over March 2006.

The total business inventories/sales ratio at the end of March was 1.27, up slightly from March 2006’s 1.26. For manufacturers, the ratio was 1.23, which edged up from March 2006’s 1.16.
