GWINNER, N.D. - In a statement released by Bobcat on Wednesday, the company attempted to clarify media reports related to employment levels at its Gwinner, N.D. plant.

“Contrary to reports, Bobcat has no current plans to permanently rehire employees who were involuntarily released as part of the business’ adjustment to market conditions for the plant’s products,” the statement said. “The USA market demand remains soft with total industry sales of skid steer loaders off 18 percent in the first quarter of 2007 vs. prior year.”

The statement went on to say that the company is “satisfied” with its current staffing level at the plant. Additionally, Bobcat has issued temporary employment recalls to fill vacation absences at the plant.
