Apple Reports MacBook Battery Issues

Apple Inc. said in a statement on Friday that some batteries in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook lines may have performance issues, but do not pose a safety risk.

SAN FRANCISCO - Apple Inc. said in a statement on Friday that some batteries in its MacBook and MacBook Pro notebook lines may have performance issues, but do not pose a safety risk.

Apple is offering a software update that is designed to improve battery performance.

The prepared statement said, “the factors causing the performance issues do not present a safety risk. You may continue to use your current battery.”

The battery update affects computers and extra batteries purchased between February 2006 and April 2007.
