Surcharge will appy to invoices for products shipped in May 2007.

AK Steel announced Thursday that it is adding a $340 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in May 2007.

The surcharges are based on reported prices for raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products, with the March 2007 purchase cost used to determine the May 2007 surcharges.

AK Steel, headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, and carbon and stainless tubular steel products for the automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
