Volkswagen Increases Shares In Scania As Path To Alliance With MAN

Volkswagen now has over 35 percent of voting rights in Scania.

Volkswagen AG announced Wednesday that it has increased its stake in Swedish truckmaker Scania AB from 18.7 percent to 20.03 percent, giving Volkswagen 35.31 percent of the voting rights in Scania.

Recently, Volkswagen also recently increased its stake in German rival MAN to 29.9 percent.

Volkswagen said that its increased shareholdings in MAN and Scania will safeguard their strategic interest in the commercial vehicles business and hope it will lead to a friendly alliance between MAN and Scania.
