NAM Ends Sponsorship Of National Manufacturing Week

The manufacturing association sponsored the trade event for 15 years.

Citing the recent sale of National Manufacturing Week, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) said it will no longer be the lead sponsor of the September 2007 show.

The show, owned by Reed Exhibitions and sponsored by the NAM for the last 15 years, was sold in July 2006 to Canon Communications, Los Angeles, Calif.

The NAM contract with Reed Exhibitions was not part of the purchase agreement.

Hank Cox, a spokesman for the NAM, said he did not know why Canon has decided to discontinue the NAM's lead sponsorship of the show. "In past years, we have been able to drive attendees to the show and provide speakers," said Cox.

The NAM said it will continue to support and strengthen manufacturing innovation and competitiveness through other initiatives and activities.
