Lonza Group Ltd., a life sciences company said Wednesday that it has a strategic manufacturing alliance with Solvay Pharmaceuticals, a division of SOLVAY SA. Under the alliance, Lonza will supply Solvay’s large volume active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
“This outsourcing is in line with Solvay Pharmaceuticals' strategy of shifting selected manufacturing activities to high quality, competitively-priced alternatives.” said Francesc Junyent, Senior Vice President Manufacturing and Supply of Solvay.
Lonza is a supplier for pharmaceutical, healthcare and life science industries and for 2005, it had sales of about $2.1 billion.
SOLVAY is a Brussels-based chemical and pharmaceutical group that employs 30,000 people in 50 countries. For 2005, it had consolidated sales of $11.4 billion.
