Ferro Boosting Prices On Calcium Stearate

Price increase effective Jan. 15, 2007.

Ferro Corp.'s Organic Specialties Group said Tuesday it is increasing the price in North America for all fused grades of Calcium Stearate and Aqueous Calcium Stearate Dispersions, by 5 cents per pound, as contracts allow.

The increase is effective with shipments on and after January 15, 2007.

Peter Thomas, Vice President, Organic Specialties, noted that the increase is due primarily to the escalation of raw materials costs.

Calcium Stearate is used in a number of manufacturing applications, including as a stabilizer for plastics, in coatings, inks and lacquers, and as a waterproofing additive in concrete, textiles and papers.
