Japanese Auto Production Surged In October

Domestic sales dropped,  however.

Auto production in Japan climbed sharply in October, though domestic sales dropped by nearly 4 percent.

The Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association said Wednesday that October production came in at 996,165 units, an increase of 12.1 percent over a year ago. Auto exports were 508,878 units, a jump of 14.4 percent from a year earlier and the fifteenth consecutive month-over-month increase.

But JAMA also said domestic sales in October fell 3.7 percent versus October 2005, with passenger cars showing a decline of 3.6 percent and trucks falling 4.2 percent.
