Score A Win For Boeing In Battle With Airbus

Report says U.S. giant outdid Airbus in 2006 orders.

The latest round of Boeing vs. Airbus most likely went to the U.S. aerospace giant.

While Boeing's total orders for 2006 won't be officially unveiled until tomorrow, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports Wednesday that the company topped its record sales of 2005 by winning orders for at least 1,040 planes in 2006. It had 1,002 orders in 2005.

Airbus' numbers won't be released for another few weeks, but the newspaper reported that Boeing had such a big lead going into the end of the year that Airbus itself conceded it couldn't make up the difference.

The Post-Intelligencer said Boeing's top-selling model was again the 737, with the company winning about 619 orders, the best year yet for the popular aircraft.
