According to WUSA in Maryland, one parent said the kids were denied “the American dream” after officials shut down their lemonade stand outside the U.S. Open and fined the group $500 for not having a permit. To make matters worse, the stand was set up to raise money for a cancer charity, while several neighboring houses with permits were cleaning up after charging cars up to $60 per day to park for the event.
