The Daily Mail is reporting a study indicating that fatty junk food annihilates the brain cells responsible for controlling weight, which may be the reason why overweight people find it extra hard to drop the pounds.

When scientists fed rats a “typical high-fat American diet,” the rats doubled their calorie intake just three days later. The rats also showed signs of inflammation in the area of their brains responsible for weight control. Scientists hope possible future neurological treatments may help curb the world’s obesity crisis.
