According to the Wall Street Journal, four have died from eating raw beef at a barbecue restaurant in Japan. Many more are critically ill, and two different strains of E. coli were detected in the restaurant’s raw beef dishes. The outbreak has caused the country to take a serious look at its food safety system, and emergency checks on restaurants serving raw meat have been launched. The restaurant chain and its meat supplier are being investigated.
