A historic storm that decimated Alabama left more than 300 dead and billions in damage. According to BBC, that damage extends to the state’s $2.4 billion per year poultry industry. Chicken houses and processing plants were flattened, leaving many owners left with no choice but to euthanize any remaining chickens that weren’t killed during the storm. Owners say without electricity or water, they have no way to care for the poultry.
