MVT, or multivariable testing, uses a specialized set of mathematical and statistical formulas to streamline hundreds of ideas for improving business into a manageable cluster that can be live-tested in various combinations within a short amount of time.
Pactiv may not be a household name, but its products certainly are. The $3.4 billion manufacturer produces egg cartons, plastic utensils, to-go cups and boxes, and owns the Hefty brand.
The Illinois Corporation represents yet another manufacturing segment that QualPro’s MVT Process has tackled.
MVT, or multivariable testing, uses a specialized set of mathematical and statistical formulas to streamline hundreds of ideas for improving business into a manageable cluster that can be live-tested in various combinations within a short amount of time. In order to be included in the MVT, improvement ideas must cost little or nothing and be quick and easy to implement.
As with all MVT projects, some ideas employees and managers thought would be most likely to succeed actually flopped or made no difference at all, while other less obvious concepts were winners.
Said former Pactiv executive Bill McBee: “The one thing I would never do, never, ever, ever do, is if an idea came to the floor that was practical, feasible and cost-efficient, I would never rule it out.”
Among a number of projects, MVT was used to reduce the waste by half at one of the company’s manufacturing plants and boosted revenues by 18.2 percent through testing ways to improve the effectiveness of Pactiv’s sales force.
“QualPro. MVT. It works everywhere, it works on everything, everyone loves it, and I know for a fact it does produce results,” said McBee.
