AFFI, WUSATA Boast Global Buyers’ Convention Presence

The list of countries with formal inbound trade missions to the Western Frozen Food Convention – The Global Meeting Place is expanding in the second year of the cooperative relationship between the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA).

The American Frozen Food Institute reports that the list of countries with formal inbound trade missions to the Western Frozen Food Convention – The Global Meeting Place is expanding in the second year of the cooperative relationship between the American Frozen Food Institute (AFFI) and the Western United States Agricultural Trade Association (WUSATA).

The 2006 Convention will welcome delegations of buyers from Japan, France and Korea. This builds on the success of trade missions from Japan and France at the 2005 Convention, which resulted in more than $400,000 in immediate sales of U.S. products, as well as additional long-term partnerships. AFFI and WUSATA continue to pursue opportunities that may lead to the announcement of an additional delegation from a Latin American country. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service and the Agricultural Trade Offices in the involved countries are assisting in this initiative.

AFFI’s 2006 Western Frozen Food Convention – The Global Meeting Place will be held February 25 to March 1, 2006, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina in San Diego, CA.

“The expansion of the formal inbound trade missions contributes to the Western Frozen Food Convention’s identity as ‘The Global Meeting Place,’” said Leslie G. Sarasin, AFFI’s president and chief executive officer.“International opportunities are part of AFFI’s strategic focus to deliver ever-increasing value to members of the Institute and all Convention delegates. We appreciate our productive partnership with WUSATA and USDA in this program.”
