U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez will testify before the House Government Reform Committee Thursday. Gutierrez will discuss President Bush's American Competitiveness Initiative which will double, over 10 years, the funding for key federal research agencies, and add 600 new scientists to the National Institute of Standards and Technology at the Department of Commerce. The new researchers will help to speed up innovation and enhance U.S. competitiveness.
Following his testimony, Gutierrez will participate in a press availability with Committee Chairman Tom Davis.
