India’s industrial production growth slowed to 6.2 percent for October, according to a government report released Tuesday.

India’s industrial production growth slowed to 6.2 percent in October, according to a government report released Tuesday.

Central Statistical Organization of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation reported that the General Index stands at 237.7, and the cumulative growth for April-October 2006 stands 10.3 percent higher than the same time period in 2005.

The Manufacturing Index of Industrial Production rose 6.0 percent to 251.4, as compared with October of last year, while cumulative growth during April–October rose 11.2 percent.           

Twelve of the 17 tracked industries showed positive growth for October, with the industry group “Metal Products and Parts, except Machinery and Equipment,” marked the largest improvement of 25.6 percent. The group “Other Manufacturing Industries” had a negative growth of 17.2 percent.
