Toyota will provide a  $1 million grant to the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Foundation to support  "Inspiring a New Generation."

Toyota has been a regular sponsor of the SAE Foundation for the past 14 years, contributing more than $2.5 million dollars to SAE's "A World in Motion" program, which provides a hands-on math and science curriculum for students in grades 4 - 10.

In addition to the grant, more than 80 Toyota volunteers have partnered with 14 Detroit schools to educate students regarding careers in science or engineering.

Veronica Meury, Director of the SAE Foundation, said in a statement to Manufacturing.net, "Toyota’s pledge of $1 million to the SAE Foundation’s Centennial Campaign is a strong leadership gift and evidence of their commitment to education. They join other companies like General Motors, Ford and Caterpillar who have also made pledges of $1 million or more."

A World in Motion was developed by the SAE International in 1990 as a way to foster an interest in math and science in elementary school students.
