Energy Sector Compressor And Pump Package Orders Forecast To Rise

North America has 572 compression and pump units, in various states of completion, reports Industrial Info Research.

According to Industrial Info Research, the number of compressor and pump package orders for the energy sector has risen significantly because of heavy activity in the oil and gas production, transmission and storage sector.

There are 572 compression and pump units, in various states of completion in North America, that Industrial Info has been following. Those units have a combined horsepower of roughly 5,907,671 and in size, each unit averages 10,328 horsepower.

The number of “precomissioned” units is expected to climb with new pipeline, production and storage projects in the energy sector, based on Industrial Info’s research.

Of the 572 precomissioned projects being tracked, there are “prime movers,” namely 85 aeroderivative turbines, 128 heavy frame turbines, 182 electric motors and 169 internal combustion engines, Industrial Info said.

With 134 units, the Southwest will have the most units and the Rocky Mountains is second with 116 units. Following them is Western Canada with 91 units and the Southeast with 47 units, the research showed.

There is an expected 469 units for the U.S. and 104 for Canada. The largest manufacturers for the “prime movers” are Solar Turbines (109 units), Caterpillar (101 units) and GE Power Systems (37 units), according to Industrial Info.
