Genesis Magma Racing, the motorsport team for Hyundai's luxury vehicle division Genesis Motor, expects to make its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race this month. The team is entering a pair of GMR-001 Hypercars in the race and will become the first South Korean manufacturer to compete in the famous endurance event.

To mark the occasion, the two cars will feature a special livery inspired by the Magma Orange-to-red gradient design displayed on the GMR-001 Hypercar show car at Le Mans last year in the Manufacturers' Village.

As it prepares for its third-ever race, Genesis Magma Racing hopes to have both cars recorded as classified finishers. Preparations included a day and night endurance test at Le Castellet, which allowed the team to evaluate the GMR-001 Hypercar's two-line headlamps.

Genesis Magma Racing first fired up the G8MR 3.2l Turbo V8 in February 2025, based on Hyundai Motorsport's in-line 4-cylinder engine. As engine testing progressed, chassis partner ORECA built the car's first chassis to LMDh regulations. The team paired the chassis and powertrain for the first time in August 2025.

During track testing, the GMR-001 Hypercar completed nearly 25,000 kilometers on circuits, with one engine completing nearly 9,000 kilometers.
