Chrysler Sues Retailer Over Slogan

Chrysler is suing a clothing retailer for using the automaker's "Imported from Detroit" slogan that debuted in a popular Super Bowl ad featuring Eminem.

DETROIT (AP) -- Chrysler is suing a clothing retailer for using the automaker's "Imported from Detroit" slogan that debuted in a popular Super Bowl ad featuring rapper Eminem.

The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press report Wednesday that Chrysler Group LLC has filed a federal lawsuit claiming Pure Detroit "opportunistically sought to usurp Chrysler's goodwill and exploit Chrysler's investment."

The suit says the retailer sold "huge numbers of T-shirts" bearing the slogan.

Chrysler says it has a trademark application filed for clothing. The slogan is part of the Chrysler 200 marketing campaign.

Chrysler says Pure Detroit stopped selling the T-shirts on the retailer's website but continues to sell them at stores.

The Associated Press left a message Wednesday at one of the Pure Detroit outlets seeking comment from the company on the lawsuit.
