COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio Gov. John Kasich says he's let two of the Detroit Three automakers know that Ohio wants their business.
Kasich said on Thursday that a trip to Detroit with several dignitaries, including Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee and Development Director Mark Kwamme, was sobering and even disturbing. Kasich says auto executives told him in private conversations during the Wednesday visit that Ohio's regulatory and business climate is not competitive with other states and that they perceive the state as uncooperative with the industry.
The newly elected Republican says he let the companies know he will work with them to retain and add jobs. He's asked them for a list of suggestions on how his Republican administration can help.
