PPG Builds Eighth Plant In China

New facility will produce auto paint for China’s Chery Automotive.

BEIJING – PPG Industries, a paint manufacturer, is building its eighth manufacturing facility in Wuhu in East China's Anhui Province, according to Industrial Info Resources.

The plant, which will produce auto paint for Chery Automotive, a Chinese automobile manufacturer, is also the first plant that PPG has launched for a Chinese brand automaker.

The first-phase of PPG’s investment is forecasted to reach $9.12 million.

The annual output of the new factory is expected to meet the demand for paint by one million Chery cars when it begins operation on January 1, 2008, Industrial Info noted.

PPG’s seven other factories in China provide auto paints to BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, General Motor, Dongfeng Citroen and Hainan Mazda.
