Japanese Auto Exports Surge In July; Production Also On The Rise

Japanese automobile production in July increased 8.2 percent versus the same time last year, according to the Japan Automotive Manufacturers Association. Auto exports showed an increase of 20.5 percent.

Auto production in July was 977,856 units, with domestic sales at 490,325 vehicles, down 5.2 percent versus a year ago.

Total value of auto exports for July was $11.3 billion, including $8.8 billion for vehicles and $2.5 billion for parts, marking an increase of 13.1 percent. Passenger cars showed an increase of 24.8 percent, while truck exports were down seven percent.
