NASA Astronaut (and renowned Twitter enthusiast) Scott Kelly shared this spectacular photo from the International Space Station on Friday, Oct. 2.
Kelly tweeted, “Early morning shot of Hurricane #Joaquin from @space_station before reaching #Bahamas. Hope all is safe. #YearInSpace.”
Currently, Hurricane Joaquin is inundating the Atlantic Seaboard heavy rains, which has led to historic levels of flooding in South Carolina. According to South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, “We haven’t seen this level of rain in the low country in a thousand years — that’s how big it is.”
NASA and NOAA satellites are continuing to monitor the Category 4 storm’s progress.
